MEETS NFPA Requirements
The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) outlines the following guidelines for lamps designated to illuminate the ground: NFPA 1900 (2016 revision) Chapter 13.10.1.2: The fire apparatus shall be equipped with lighting that is capable of providing illumination at a minimum level of 2 fc (20 Ix) on ground areas within 30 in. (800 mm) of the edge of the apparatus in areas designated for personnel to climb onto the apparatus or descend from the apparatus to the ground level.
TOMAR’s Ground Lamps meet NFPA 1900 Chapter 13.10.1.2 requirements for the capability to “provide illumination at a minimum level of 2 fc (20 lx) on ground areas within 30 inches (800 mm) of the edge of the apparatus” when the following installation parameters are observed:
- Lamp must be mounted parallel to the ground (horizontal) with the lamp facing straight down (vertical).
- The built-in angled optic of the lamp is facing outward.
- Be located at a height no less than 17 inches and no greater than 40 inches from the ground.
